Domestic Goddes #1
2017
In 2017, I developed an interest in applying crochet techniques and explored various materials with linear characteristics, such as cables, stiff nylon, elastic nylon, wire slings, and copper wire. Eventually, copper wire was chosen for my artistic creations due to its properties, being neither too smooth nor too rigid.
The act of crocheting is often associated with women’s domestic work. Two keywords led me to address issues related to domestic work traditionally associated with women in families. In this series, there are four artworks representing domestic life: an apron, a clothesline with garments for both women and men, a pair of shoes, and a baby swing.
I intend to convey the values of gender equality within the domestic sphere, challenging preconceived notions of women’s roles. Furthermore, I aim to highlight the importance of collective effort and mutual support as the driving force behind a harmonious family life.
